Join guest tutor Neale for a creative and inspiring introduction to the art of glass fusing. This hands-on workshop is suitable for beginners and will guide you through the process of designing and creating your own beautiful fused glass decorations.
What the Workshop Includes:
- An introduction to glass fusing, including:
- Safety considerations
- Design principles
- Glass fusing techniques
- Different types of glass used in fusing
- Decorative inclusions and embellishment
- Practical experience in:
- Scoring glass
- Cutting glass
- Safely breaking glass
- Designing and creating your own fused glass artwork. You will have the choice of making:
- One larger Spring flower decoration, or
- Two smaller Spring flower decorations
Your finished pieces can be displayed hanging in a window or mounted against a wall. If time allows, additional glass will be available to purchase should you wish to create an extra item.
Important Information:
- Please wear closed-toe shoes.
- Long hair should be tied back.
- Please bring a packedlunch.
- If you have allergies to plasters or gloves, please bring suitable alternatives that you normally use.
While every effort is made to ensure a safe environment, we will be working with glass, which can have sharp edges. Small cuts are occasionally possible.
After the Workshop:
Once completed, your pieces will be kiln-fired for approximately 16 hours. They will then need to cool gradually and will be ready for collection approximately one week after the workshop.
The workshop takes place at May I Design studio, inside Kingfisher Gallery and Studios. Please note my studio is up a flight of stairs on the first floor.
